Team Members

Ryan W. Ryan is a second year returning member, and team’s primary co-team leader for this year’s team. He is going for an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics and Space Studies. Ryan currently works in the Computer Science Department, at the University of North Dakota. In his spare time, he enjoys auto racing, and movies. Stephanie C. Stephanie is a 3rd year undergraduate student studying to earn her degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Dakota. Frozen Fury Scale Rocket

So the scale rocket materials were purchased about two weeks ago, and we have been slowly building the scale. Our plan this year was to take a "kit" rocket, and modify it to watch our full scale rocket. Our current full scale rocket calls for a 5.5 inch diameter tubing. We have scaled down from the full scale rocket diameter of 5.5 inches to 3 inches. This scale value of 1.87, was applied to all components lengths and weights. About The Program Quoted from The University Student Launch Initiative website The NASA University Student Launch Initiative, or USLI, is a competition that challenges university-level students to design, build and fly a reusable rocket with scientific payload to one mile in altitude. The project engages students in scientific research and real-world engineering processes with NASA engineers. Students propose to participate in USLI during the fall. Welcome to the University of North Dakota – Frozen Fury rocketry team’s website. We are a group of undergraduate and graduate students that are interested in rocketry, engineering and science. The team has been apart of the USLI competition for four years now, beginning in 2007 when the team finished second place in their first appearance. The 2008-2009 competition year saw many new challenges, and them finished 7th overall in a much large competition field.

Last year, the team expanded its engineering abilities and had a Rocket with a High Altitude Radio Relay (HARRY). During the competition though, our rocket experienced and airframe failure and shredded during the flight.
